WARWICK - On Friday, July 18, local resident Amanda Conn, held the grand opening of her new store, “Wicks and Wishes,” located at Warwick Crossing, 314 Route 94 South, between the Village of Warwick and Vernon, N.J.Wicks and Wishes features hand crafts, all natural soy candles and body care products. Conn explained that her candles are made with 100 per cent all natural soy and superior grade fragrance oils to provide clean burning, environmentally friendly and long lasting enjoyment. The body care products, she added, are made from natural ingredients such as soy, Shea, aloe, hemp and goat’s milk.
“Our body care products,” said Conn, “offer excellent moisturizing capabilities through healthy formulas that combine natural ingredients with unique and subtle fragrances to provide a spa indulgence with each use.”In addition to candles and natural body care products, Wicks and Wishes also plays host to several local artisans who offer unique handmade jewelry, homemade natural pet products, candle accessories, photography and hand painted home décor.
Jeanette Shanahan of Jeanette Design Studio in Pine Island, for example, offers boutique designer jewelry, handcrafted with freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals and other unique gemstones. Her one-of-a-kind, limited edition creations, said Conn, are moderately priced and designed to accent both casual and formal attire. Shanahan’s collection includes a bridal showcase with elegant pieces considered ideal for special events along with everyday earrings, bracelets and necklaces. She has also included a children’s collection with newborn and communion pieces. Shanahan also offers jewelry repair, restoration and redesign services for vintage jewelry.
Another artisan Linda Osestad of Things for Your Furry Friends in Highland Lakes, N.J., offers a variety of dog and horse treats, crate mats and cat accessories. All of her products are “pet and environment” friendly and are offered in a several varieties.“After a visit to our shop,” said Conn, “you will easily see that we offer professionally packaged, superior quality products that compete both in presentation and cost with our commercial competitors. And remember, shopping local makes our community stronger and a great place to live. All of our artisans are committed to outstanding customer service and are eager to work with any special requests or orders that you may have.”
Conn stated that the goal of Wicks and Wishes is to provide a store where customers can purchase handmade, local crafts from community artisans that are created with our environment and nature in mind.“In addition to our commitment to the environment,” she said, “Wicks and Wishes is committed to helping charitable organizations and we are very proud of the regular donations we make to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.”Wicks and Wishes is open every day.
